Boston-AAP

Scott has a convention each fall, and whenever possible, I like to go. Scott's parents flew out to take care of the kids (yeah grandparents!). Mostly, Scott goes to meetings, and I hang out and read, shop, and watch tv. It's fabulous. Our favorite part is seeing all our great perio friends. Scott was so blessed to go to school w/ the greatest group of people. I could write an entire blog about how great they are.
Day 1-We got there at 10:00am and spent the rest of the day sight-seeing. We mostly did "The Freedom Trail"-Paul Revere's House (he had 16 kids and only 5 outlived him, cemeteries, churches, and boats. I have such admiration for the founders of our country.

We also climbed the Bunker Hill monument-all 291 steps. I was tired going up and really dizzy coming down.

Scott ate lobster mac-n-cheese for lunch (I went for pizza)

After walking miles and miles, we headed back to the hotel and met up w/ our friends for a great dinner.
Day 2-It was pouring rain. Scott left for class, and I headed down to work-out (in little shorts and a t-shirt). My room key wouldn't let me in the fitness center, so I went down to the lobby to get another key card. They asked, "can I see some ID?" I had left mine in the room. Then they told me that since my name wasn't on the room, there was nothing I could do. I was freaked out, since it was only 50 degrees outside and POURING and I had no $ and hadn't had a shower. Then he told me the security guard would walk me upstairs to get my purse, but he couldn't let me stay in the room, w/ out Scott's permission. I guess he finally felt sorry for me and let me stay. I made Scott put the room in my name as soon as he got back that night.
I spent the rest of the day reading a book, "First to Die" about a serial killer that targets newlyweds in their hotel rooms. When the maid came to clean, I about had a heart attack.

Day 3-One of the wives and I did some sight-seeing. The highlight of the day, in addition to the company, was The Boston Public Gardens. It is the setting for the book, "Make Way for Ducklings" (I never realized it was a real place) and it's gorgeous.
We met up w/ out hubbies to go see "Blue-man Group". We'd seen them in SA at the SBC center and wanted to see them at a smaller venue. A lady came up to Scott and asked him how tall he was and asked if he'd like to be in the show, then they took him back and gave him black shoes. I wish they'd let me take pics/video-it was awesome. We were sitting on the balcony and one of them came and got him and led him down the stairs and up on the stage and made him put on a painter's suit and a helmet. Then they led him back stage. The audience saw a video of him (really it was some other guy-hence the shoes) tying him by his ankles, hanging him upside down, covering him w/ paint, and throwing him against a large canvas (random?). I was waiting for him to appear. Then the Bluemen did this bit where they played w/ large jell-o sculptures. They started destroying one and Scott ended up inside.

While we were there, they were filming the movie "Zookeeper" with Adam Sandler and Keven James. We never saw anyone famous, but we ran into them shooting several times and can't wait to see the movie.

One night we headed out to see Harvard and MIT. I was surprised how small Harvard's campus was. Scott thinks it would be fun to apply to see if he could get in. I told him absolutely not, b/c he'd probably get in and he doesn't need any more letters after his name. We also saw this cool building outside MIT. Doesn't it look like something from Seuss?

  2. Boston is great in the summer, fall and spring. Not a fan in the winter.
