We just thought we were really busy

On Sunday, I was asked to work with the 14-15 girls @ church. Mostly, I will teach them on Sundays and attend weekly activity nights. I'm pretty excited, and a teeny bit nervous. That age group is a little notorious for hogging all the drama.

I was a little nervous about how the Bird would feel with me being in there. I was relieved and a little surprised how absolutely thrilled that she is.

In honor of this new adventure, we went to TJ Maxx and bought new church bags.

Bathroom decorating by Eddie

So I've been really busy decorating the house lately. Apparently Eddie had a few finishing touches he wanted to do to the master bathroom. After his bath last night, we saw this lovely sculpture. When questioned, he replied, "I wanted to see how much it weighed".

This is what he does EVERY time he takes a shower. I guess it's his version of wall-to-wall carpeting. Weird or cute?

We just thought we were busy

We keep ourselves pretty busy. The boys are in basketball and Riley is busy w/ her 2 instruments. Riley started track yesterday and I'm not sure how she's going to keep up w/ everything she's got going on.

Scott's main resposibility at work is hosting a 6 week perio course for general dentists. He was working crazy long hours (he didn't actually see Riley's braces for a few days, b/c he actually didn't see Riley). The course was over last Wednesday and he happily sent all the participants back to whatever AF base they came from.

Wednesday night the ENTIRE Bishopric came over. For those of you that are not Mormon, this means that you are about to get a very big job at church. They asked Scott to be the Young Men's President (boys between 12-18). The last time he was in YM's he was 18, so there's going to be a learning curve, but he'll be awesome. Also he can scout out which boys we will allow to talk w/ Riley.

I think our cool-new playroom might turn out to be quite the hang-out and I better go and get some more junk food.

Mom's 60

My Mom turned 60 on Feb 8th. She's a wonderful women and we had a great weekend celebrating. We started Friday going out to lunch and shopping in Old Town Helotes w/ her sister Barb. (no pics). Saturday Spencer had the largest fan club cheering him on at his basketball game. Then we headed on over to my parents.
My Aunt Barb bought her the appropiate b-day jewels.

What Christopher and Spencer do during the off-season.
My poor sister Kim was so sick and trying to be a good sport-not good enough to have her pic taken-but she was a trooper
Amelia eating strawberries

My Aunt Barb flew in from DC for the weekend. She always brings, "a little something" for the kids .

My niece Zoey

This cracked me up.

My siblings wanted to do a dessert bar. All of this was for 18 people-two of which are still in diapers.

Riley made the cake. I love her expression-she was so pleased w/ how it turned out. She put a bunch of white shirts on the cake, b/c my mom always wears a white shirt-except of course this day.

We made her this sign.
Happy B-Day Mom!

Romantic Dinner for 5

I awoke to the happy sounds of my kid's excitement over some V-day surprises that there dad left. Spencer got 100 football cards, Riley got flowers and a Volleyball, and Eddie is the proud new owner of a basketball. Scott didn't forget me and left Lilly's and Rittersport (German chocolate) on the bathroom counter. I was worried that would be it. Scott called me to tell me that a going away lunch was canceled and if I had time to drive down and have lunch w/ him. Woohoo!

Then I headed to the boy's school parties. Spencer's class had a chocolate fountain. I wish I had my camera, b/c the kids were covered w/ chocolate.

I came home to find this. Riley's YW leader did it. Isn't it awesome?
Feeling all festive, I thought I'd make a special meal for the kiddos. Recipes are on my other blog.

What says love more than hear-shaped meat?

I finish the evening taking Spencer to basketball. How romantic.

Snow Day-Texas Style

It was nothing like the snowpocalypse we suffered through last winter, but it got us out of school.
