Riley has always been very picky when it comes to clothes. However, lately were are reaching new lows and this causes lots of drama. She isn't really little girl anymore and not quite a teenager. Those in-between stages are so hard-like being 3 months pregnant (your real clothes don't fit but maternity clothes are still ridiculous.) I take her shopping, but she doesn't like anything. Then I buy something cute that she likes until the second we cut all the tags off and it's suddenly no longer acceptable. She has always hated it when other people have the same clothes as her. This is a problem, b/c all the mom's shop at Target, Kohl's and the Children's Place. I looked at TJ Maxx, but it was all about Baby Phatt and I just didn't think that was the look we're going for.
Here' her current list of what she doesn't like:
-too baby
-too plain
-wore it last week
-too boxy
-too poofy
-buttons (since when are they a fashion no-no)
-too many girls in my class have it
-words
Hopefuly this will improve when school get's out.
Bummer. Poor Riley and Poor Tara! Good Luck. Do you have Osh Kosh Outlets? I think they have cute big girl clothes, but I'm so out of touch with 11 year olds!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Shopping next time you're here with Riley! I bet she'll like whatever her cool Aunt Kim picks out!!! :)
ReplyDeleteTara, that brings me back to the days of shopping with my "tween" daughter. I'd put a good pair of walking shoes on because we'd shop, and shop, and shop, and shop, and hardly find anything "acceptable" to wear for various reasons. One of the reasons embarassed me to death, and it is one of the reasons I have problems with McKay RIGHT NOW! I won't even commit the reason to writing (you'll have to ask me later!!)
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK . . . this too will pass!
