Homeless

It is way too much work to live in a house and try and clean, paint etc. I felt like all we were doing was moving around our huge piles of stuff. Also I think we should have sent another box or 2 w/ the movers. We finally finished. I'm going to miss that house.

The new people came last night and they didn't look like they had huge desires to destroy my house. Actually, I really like them and have a good feeling that they are the best answer to a bad real estate market.

It was close to 8:00 pm by the time, we handed off keys and loaded up both cars. Our plan was just to get it out of the house and then to re-arrange it when we got to the TLF on Boling. It was a crazy mix of suitcases, boxes, bags, and laundry baskets. Scott checked Monday and yesterday to make sure they had our reservation. He even asked how late we could check in. So imagine our shock when they told us they had no room for us?!?!?!?!?! Instead we got a list of hotels we could call that offer military rates. Thanks.

We drove through BK (boy's were starving) and then went to Scott's work to use his computer to find a hotel. It took a while b/c it's the 4th of July and there are a few tourists here. We even thought of drving all the way back down to Waldorf. Then we finally found and empty room. We're staying at "aloft" in the Inner Harbor. It's a really nice hotel-too nice for us. We were all filthy-covered in paint and dirt and all needing showers. Also remember our classy luggage situation? I didn't feel at all stupid, walking through the lobby.

It was 11:00 before we got in our room and got the boys to bed. This morning, I can see this all as a blessing in disguise. We get a vacation in the National Harbor in a hotel way nicer then we ever stay in. The hotel is funny. It looks kind of like an upscale modern night club. I think it's more "young and hip" then "family friendly". To give you an idea of the feel of the hotel -they give us a complimentary copy of "Spin" magazine.

Now I'm going to the laundrymat so I again can go through the lobby w/ all my classy laundry baskets, b/c that's how I roll.

  3. We stayed at an Aloft when we went to Philly. We liked it too, minus the dance club in the lobby. It seemed cheaper than the other upscale hotels, which was nice. I would not be happy either. I think it is so bizarre that they said they had a reservation but didn't honor that. So weird. But better if they pay for it.
