Comments by Eddie

Last week, I did a surgery on a 3-Star General. Needless to say, the scariest guys on the base are typically extremely timid when they're lying in the chair. Anyhow, to keep him at ease during the procedure, I kept my iPOD on a loop of classical music . . . Later the same day, I was driving with Eddie and Spencer in the back seat, my iPOD playing Beethoven's 9th. Eddie (who usually prefers the Black Eyed Peas or Fatboy Slim) asked inquisitively from the back seat, “Dad, is this ‘Along Time Ago’ music?” When I replied in the affirmative, he commented, “So THIS is ‘Castle Music’.”

Yesterday, again while driving around town and discussing future aspirations, Eddie informed me that he wanted to go on “Wipeout!” and do lots of “funny stuff”. I asked him if he won the $50,000 if he would take the whole family out to dinner. He responded with a blunt, “No.” When I asked him what he was going to do with all that money, he replied, “I’m going to buy a robot . . . I’ve ALWAYS wanted one.” Of course, I then observed him doing quite the masterful rendition of the robot dance in the rearview mirror.
