First Day of School

Riley started 6th Grade and Middle School. It's a huge jump (I think more for her parents then her). Last year, on the first day she wore cut off shorts and tennis shoes and her hair in a pony tail. I can't believe how much she's changed in a year. She spent the week before school started, packing, labeling, and planning for middle school. She's also taking the bus for the first time, which makes me a little nervous. I told her to sit as close to the front as possible. She came home the first day absolutely glowing and LOVES middle school.

Spencer woke up mad the first day and it went downhill from there. He seemed to be a little shocked that we were actually expecting him to go back to school. I think he was hoping that since he completed 2nd grade he'd be done. He spent 0 time preparing for the first day. That morning, he spilt ketchup on his shirt and refused to change, so he obviously wasn't too concerned about his new fall wardrobe. Some quotes from Spencer about school, "School is like jail." "They should pay the students and not the teachers-they do all the work." "My teacher is an idiot face" Poor kid is going to have a long year-and 9 more after that.

Eddie misses the deadline by 11 days. He is so confused why so many of his friends are starting Kindergarten (his entire Primary class). We've signed him up for Pre-K at our Elementary School, but I have pretty low expectations of him getting in. I just need to figure out something to do w/ him for both our sakes.

  1. Ugh!! This post made me laugh...and cry! Riley looks way to old and Spencer looks, well, like Spencer! And poor Eddie. :~(

I do think it's cool that he and Braedan will be in the same grade, but bummed he has to wait an entire year to go. They couldn't test him or something to send him?!?! I'm sure he'd pass any genius test they threw at him!

  2. Your kids are great! Great pictures of Riley, she looks so ready for middle school. Spencer pictures totally reflect the story about his attitude towards going back to school. And Eddie is just as cute as always, I hope you hear soon about PreK.
